Nigel Weston is a partner of Mourant du Feu & Jeune, and a leading member of its funds team, specialising in investment funds, property holding structures and regulatory matters. He is also a member of the main Committee of the Jersey Funds Association and Chairman of its Legal, Tax, Regulatory and Compliance Subcommittee. In this role, Nigel is always at the forefront in relation to legislative and regulatory innovation in the Island. Nigel qualified as an English solicitor at Simmons & Simmons and, after five years in the City, moved back to Jersey in 1996. Since that time he has been at Mourant, dealing with a variety of international finance work including funds, corporate law and offshore structures, banking, and regulatory matters; before deciding to concentrate primarily on funds. Nigel became a partner in October 2003. Nigel’s investment funds work includes establishing an innovative new limited partnership fund investing in Channel Islands commercial property on behalf of Royal Bank of Scotland International and AXA Group, the first such fund to be established in the Channel Islands. As well as advising on the UBS Triton Property Fund (Jersey), he has also advised on the establishment of a number of public and private real estate funds (including numerous VPUTs on behalf of various major UK property holding institutions), private equity funds, hedge funds and funds of hedge funds. He is also a member of both the Institute of Directors and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
