Mourant celebrates Guernsey move with art competition

Mourant is celebrating its move to new, larger premises in Guernsey with a prize art competition and exhibition for up-and-coming local Guernsey artists of all ages. The company is offering entrants the chance to win £1000 and have their work on long-term display in its new offices at Dorey Court.
"As a company we are great believers in innovative and creative thinking," says Iain Stokes of Mourant.
"When the decision was made to ’step up’ to our new Guernsey offices we saw an opportunity both to support local Guernsey art and to decorate our new office. So we’re calling on all local Guernsey artists to enter an existing, original piece of art for inclusion in an exhibition called ’Stepping up’, which will take place at Guernsey Airport between 15 December 2006 and 15 January 2007 – a central point of focus over the busy Christmas/New Year travelling period. We hope that this choice of display site and time period will give the artists great exposure for their work. We invite anyone viewing the exhibition to vote for their favourite piece."
Mourant, which was founded in Jersey in 1947, is now one of the world’s largest providers of administration and offshore legal services, operating in seven jurisdictions, as well as being an employer of over 800 people worldwide. With its base in Jersey and its growing presence in Guernsey, Mourant is really taking the Channel Islands to the international stage.
Iain added: "The move to our new office at Dorey Court is a significant step for the company, illustrating the success and growth we’ve experienced in Guernsey since we opened in 2003, as well as Mourant’s long-term commitment to Guernsey. We believe in encouraging creativity and inventiveness, and hope that the people of Guernsey, artists and art lovers alike, do get behind the exhibition."

All artwork must be two dimensional, static and unframed in any medium including photography, etching, drawing and painting.
