Elaine trained and qualified as a Scottish lawyer and worked in private practice with two of Scotland’s major commercial law firms before joining the Royal Bank of Scotland, initially in the bank’s specialist corporate unit, where she was involved in a number of high profile M&A transactions. Latterly, Elaine was director of legal and regulatory services for The Royal Bank of Scotland International Group in Jersey, with overall responsibility for the bank’s offshore legal, company secretarial and compliance departments across a number of jurisdictions. She joined Mourant in September 2002, becoming a partner in January 2007, and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, corporate matters (including data protection and competition law), banking and financial services. Elaine qualified as a Jersey solicitor in December 2005 and as a Jersey advocate in August 2007.
