James heads Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s Corporate & Banking team. He advises on the full range of work undertaken by this team, specialising in corporate law, partnership law, banking law and the tax and regulatory treatment of certain offshore vehicles. James was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994 and after working in tax chambers in London moved to Freshfields, the City firm of solicitors, where he practised banking and finance law. James, together with another partner, advised on the £1.3 billion Drax power refinancing which contributed to Mourant du Feu & Jeune winning The Lawyer’s Offshore Law Firm of the Year Award 2004. More recently, he has been part of the team advising JPMorgan on its historic joint venture with Cazenove and the team advising on the acquisition financing of Jimmy Choo, the global shoe brand.
