FirstGroup Plc Cash Box Transaction - February 2007

Jonathan Walker and Peter Goddard recently gave Jersey legal advice to bus giant FirstGroup Plc in relation to certain financing aspects of its £1.9 billion (US$3.6 billion) acquisition of Laidlaw International, Inc., which owns the iconic Greyhound long distance buses and also operates yellow school buses. With FirstGroup’s existing fleet it will become the largest US private operator of school buses.

Slaughter & May were English counsel to FirstGroup Plc and Clifford Chance represented JPMorgan Cazenove Limited and UBS Limited who were the dealers. In New York, Davis Polk & Wardwell advised FirstGroup Plc on the US aspects of the deal and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom advised Laidlaw.
