Shire plc - offering of convertible bonds

Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s Brian Scholfield, Gareth Rigby and Veronica Strande advised Shire plc on the Jersey aspects of an offering of US$1,100 million principal amount of Convertible Bonds due 2014. The proceeds of the offering were used to refinance part of the bank facilities put in place for the recent acquisition of New River Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Shire is a rapidly growing global specialty pharmaceutical company and is currently the third largest pharmaceutical company in the UK.
