Formerly of Collas Day, John brings to Mourant over 15 years of legal experience, in both in-house counsel roles and private practice. Having trained and qualified with Allen & Overy in London, John moved to Australia where he became Australian qualified and worked for ING Group and Minter Ellison. John said, "I’m thrilled to join a rapidly-expanding firm like Mourant, a firm that’s both well-established and innovative. Whilst Mourant’s Guernsey legal practice is relatively young, I’ve been impressed by the quality and volume of the clients and transactions it has been able to attract." |
Commenting on the appointment, Darren Bacon, founding Partner of the Guernsey office said, "We are delighted to welcome John to our ever-growing practice. This is definitely an exciting time to join Mourant in Guernsey; as we celebrate the Group’s 60th year and the island continues to establish itself as a well respected and competitive jurisdiction for funds and finance. Our explosive growth is testament to the health of the industry."
2007 is proving a bumper year for Mourant, commencing with its 60th anniversary and the firm’s continued growth, including; growing its London legal practice to become one of the largest providers of offshore legal advice in the city; announcing the intended merger with Cayman law firm, Quin & Hampson, building critical mass and the organisation’s presence and capabilities in Cayman; and becoming the first offshore law firm to open an office in New York.
