Jersey trust advice for a European family

Henry Brandts-Giesen and Edward Devenport recently advised the trustees of this Jersey law governed trust and three other trusts established by a prominent European family. The transaction involved:

• incorporation of a new Jersey registered company wholly owned by the Trustees;
• the entry into various sale and purchase agreements between the Trustees and a company to facilitate the transfer of assets from trust to company level;
• the release and discharge of obligations under the various sale and purchase agreements;
• the transfer of assets then held at company level to two new English law governed trust;
• the transfer of remaining assets held at trust level to the two other Jersey law governed trusts; and
• procuring indemnities for the Trustees in respect of such transfers.
