Mourant Ozannes leads Channel Islands rankings in Chambers Global

Mourant Ozannes has achieved more top tier rankings across the Channel Islands than any other offshore law firm in the recently published Chambers Global directory.

The 2018 edition of the legal directory ranks law firms based on technical expertise and client service, and the independent researchers have awarded Mourant Ozannes five top tier positions: Corporate & Finance, Dispute Resolution, Investment Funds and Trusts in Jersey, and Dispute Resolution in Guernsey, where the firm stands alone in the top tier.

Mourant Ozannes' internationally renowned litigation practice maintained tier one rankings in both islands. In Guernsey the firm is recognised as the clear market leader and now stands alone in tier one. Clients praised the team as "second to none" and noting that it "enjoys an outstanding reputation in dispute resolution matters, drawing from a global team of experts to offer advice on complex and cross-border cases". The Jersey litigation practice is praised for its "strong bench of litigators" and recognised by clients for its "commercial and pragmatic approach".

The top tier Jersey trusts team was noted specifically for its contentious trusts work, and recognised as the "first choice for private client matters", with the Guernsey team praised for its "considerable strength in international and cross-border work".

The firm's Jersey investment funds practice, which has held a dominant market share for 18 consecutive years, has also received a stand-alone top tier ranking. The directory noted the team's "formidable reputation" and "deep roster of experienced practitioners". Independent research from Monterey Insight, published in December, showed that the firm maintains a 54.56% market share of all funds in Jersey, nearly double that of its nearest competitor.

"A noted leader in the field of complex corporate transactions, with a strong pedigree in big-ticket M&A work", the corporate and finance team in Jersey was also ranked as a top tier practice. The Guernsey team was noted for its investment fund expertise and as "very good on the finance side".

The publication of Chambers Global 2018 follows the announcement of Mourant Ozannes' 13 top tier rankings across the Channel Islands in Legal 500 UK.
