Systems Accountant, Guernsey, Jersey or London

 

Are you looking for a new challenge in a fast paced environment? We've an exciting new systems opportunity in our global finance team

In this role, you'll be responsible for development and the day-to-day maintenance of the firm's finance systems, acting as the lead interface between the Finance team and IT. You'll work closely with our IT colleagues to help shape, develop and refine operational processes to ensure a continued high degree of data integrity.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • • Reviewing systems performance and identifying system issues

    • Managing system upgrades with the IT department

    • Designing and implementing internal system controls (preventative and detective) to provide quality assurance over financial data

    • Reviewing and maintaining all financial systems policies and procedures

    • Collaborating with IT and financial colleagues to meet business requirements

    • Troubleshooting and fixing finance related system issues

    • Training and supporting finance team members in the use of financial systems and procedures

    • Working with the IT team to design delivery schedules of systems development

    • Working with business intelligence software

    • Working with the financial control team on month end / year end closing and balancing

    • Developing reporting solutions using BI tools

    • Ensuring a high degree of data integrity

    • Keeping abreast of system enhancements and developments that could be deployed in the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness or insight

Experience, skills & technical knowledge required

  • • Degree-level education and/or a professional qualification in a related area is desirable

    • Systems development and finance systems experience – Ideally experience of 3e and Viewpoint

    • Experience or working with data ETL process and data warehousing.

    • Broad experience and knowledge of accounting systems

    • Experience working in project and BAU environments

    • Experience in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders

    • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel macros and other accounting packages

  • • Strong working knowledge of financial reporting systems and their application within a large and complex business

    • Ability to collaborate and train other finance team members

    • Proven track record of successfully operating at a senior level within a partnership culture and/or professional services environment

    • Strong team player with ability to develop effective working relationships with client facing and support departments alike

    • Confident and effective communicator able to work effectively at all levels within an organisation

    • Able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and decision making capability and to be comfortable working within a results driven environment with accuracy and focus

    • Strong personal organisational and time management skills and the ability to understand and prioritise the workload of others

    • Strong working knowledge of financial reporting systems and their application within a large and complex business
