The Jersey Coxed Fours, Team Mourant Rowing Crew, take to the world stage at the World Rowing Coastal Championships in Portugal, 1-3 October 2021, following a record breaking and victorious rowing season.

The five-person crew secured their place in the World Championships after coming fifth in the British Rowing Offshore Championships in July 2021. They will compete among some of the biggest international names in the sport, including medal-winning athletes from the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Team Mourant Rowing Crew, comprising William Le Quelenec, Michael Rive, Andy Bowman, Tom McLoughlin and cox Victoria Carr, has had an amazing season winning the Sark-to-Jersey rowing race, the Jersey Round the Island race, the inaugural Fort and Back race and coming in as Jersey's fastest men's quad in the Town to Gorey race.

The World Rowing Coastal Championships course takes place in the Lisbon harbour waters around turning points, with a mass beach start and finish. The Team Mourant Rowing Crew will take part in the heats on Friday 1 October with a hope and ambition to make the next day finals.

Cox Victoria Carr, who is also a Paralegal in the Finance and Corporate team at Mourant in Jersey, said: "To attend the World Championships is a massive achievement for all of the team. It's such an honour for us to represent Jersey, and British Rowing, on the world stage surrounded by some of the biggest names in the sport.

"It's going to be a huge challenge for us, but the excitement and anticipation building up to it has lit a fire in the team. With the men's fours being by far the most competitive class, even making one of the finals would be an amazing achievement and we're there to put in our best performance. The team would like to extend a huge thanks to Mourant for their commitment in supporting us this season."

Mourant has signed up to sponsor the Jersey Coxed Fours Team Mourant Rowing Crew for a period of three years and we wish the team the best of luck at the World Championships and beyond. We're proud to support local initiatives that empower people to be the best they can be and who share our strong team spirit and ambition to succeed.
