The Guernsey Literary Festival

[Dynamic date]

Mourant Ozannes is proud to support the Guernsey Literary Festival, which has become one of the most highly anticipated events in Guernsey's cultural calendar and plays a vital role in keeping a passion for books alive in our community.

In 2017 our sponsorship will support a visit from Sebastian Faulks, widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest living novelists, who will give a talk at St James on Saturday 13th May at 17:30pm.

Sebastian will also be in Guernsey as part of the Authors’ XI, a cricket team made up of writers who get together and travel around the world to indulge their passion for the game. The Authors’ XI, which goes back to 1912, prides itself on being one of the world’s oldest wandering cricket teams and many eminent writers and cricketers have played for them, including Arthur Conan Doyle and PG Wodehouse.

The team, which features a number of prominent authors, many of whom are speakers at the Festival, will play two matches, and cricket enthusiasts are welcome to attend. Entry to matches is free.

The first match is from 2.30 to 4.30 on Friday 12 May at the College Field, Kings Road, supported by Elizabeth College. The second match is on Sunday 14 May from 12.30 to 4.30 at KGV Field, Rue Cohu. Both matches are sponsored by Mourant Ozannes.

Before the second match, at the KGV, there will be a brunch and panel discussion with the team from 11 am to 12 noon. The discussion will be led by writer Richard Beard. This is a ticketed event and prices and tickets are available on the festival website,

Mourant Ozannes Senior Partner, Robert Shepherd, said: "The Guernsey Literary Festival is a truly unique event that not only puts Guernsey on the cultural map, bringing world-renowned authors like Sebastian Faulks to the island, but also promotes the joy of reading, challenging and inspiring readers of all ages to get involved."
