FinReg Series Guernsey: Trustee decision making – how to get it right
Our next seminar, delivered by Partners Christopher Edwards and Matthew Guthrie, will focus on good decision making – getting it right. All too often we are so heavily engaged with the day to day demands of our work that we can start to lose sight of what good decision making can look like. The costs of getting it wrong can be considerable and this seminar will provide a timely reminder of what best practice is for making decisions, including how to identify and deal with conflicts, recording what is being decided and managing the competing interests of various stakeholders.
It will include an analysis of a recent decision where the Jersey courts refused to bless a decision of a trustee and how, with a differing approach, that outcome could have been avoided, though the lessons to be drawn will be of interest to those outside the fiduciary sector as well.
