The long arm of the law – is it getting even longer?

Our next Seminar, hosted by Christopher Edwards and Jessica Roland, will focus on new attempts by overseas authorities to circumvent what are increasingly viewed as outdated mutual assistance procedures and obtain documents directly from overseas. The seminar will examine the recent decision in KBR v SFO which held that the SFO had the power to issue a notice requesting material held outside the UK from a foreign company.

It will also touch upon new tools such as Unexplained Wealth Orders and the Crime (Overseas Production Orders) Bill, what they mean for local institutions, the tensions they may create between interested parties and how best to manage them without getting stuck in the middle.
