Gemma Cowan

Overview

I’m a Senior Associate in our Cayman Islands Funds practice.

I specialise in private equity and hedge fund matters, including the establishment of investment funds and secondary transactions. I also advise on mergers and acquisitions, Cayman regulatory issues and fund financing.

I joined Mourant Ozannes in 2016, after two years with a boutique corporate firm in Perth, Australia.

Prior to this, I worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions team of the Perth office of Norton Rose Fulbright Australia from 2010 to 2014.

In my previous roles, I advised on public and private M&A transactions (including private equity) and capital raisings (including initial public offerings and secondary raisings).

Professional qualifications

• Attorney in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands
• Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia (currently non-practising)
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Dist.) and a Bachelor of Economics (BEc) from The University of Western Australia
