As part of our commitment to support the communities where we live and work, the Community Investment Programme provides financial and in-kind support to various community group and charities in the British Virgin Islands, ranging from sports groups through to educational programmes, mentoring and special needs establishments.

This year we received more than 30 applications for support and we're proud to announce the following recipients for 2021/22:

Adiago Dance School

The Adiago Dance school offers two accredited programmes - Acrobatic Arts and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. In 2018, they started an initiative to assist students whose parents were not financially able to enrol them in these programmes. This initiative has become even more prominent due to the effects of the pandemic. Our donation will help to support this fantastic initiative, assisting the eleven students currently in need.

Ava Baird Apostle

Since launching in 2017, the Kingdom Ambassadors International House of Worship has been feeding the less fortunate by distributing food items within their ministry. They have recently expanded to assist those in need in the general community. Their first community 'street venture' took place on 2 October 2021, where an overwhelming number of families turned up for support.

Our donation will assist in the monthly distribution of food items to those in need in the BVI.

Breast Cancer Awareness Club

The Breast Cancer Awareness Club has served the community in the Virgin Islands for over eleven years.  Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 they were unable to successfully undertake any fundraising towards their Patient Assistance Programme.

Thankfully, with the support of the community and donations like ours, the programme has resumed and patients are getting much needed assistance.

BVI Red Cross

The mission of the BVI Red Cross, which was established in 1956, is to mobilise the power of humanity so that persons have the capacity to prepare, respond and recover from crisis.

Through their network of volunteers, partners and staff, they ensure that their humanitarian work supports the resilience, response and recovery of those in crisis.

Community Services Ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of BVI

This ministry meets the needs of the community through their Soup Kitchen operations, where they are currently providing hot meals to hundreds of individuals on a monthly basis. They also look to provide clothing and basic household items free of cost.

The ministry also assists by running a Humanitarian Outreach programme within the community, helping those in need to repair and maintain their homes. Our donation will help to assist a single parent family to restore their kitchen and bathroom to working order.

Forever Empowering and Mentoring Anointed Leaders Everywhere (FEMALE)

The FEMALE non-Profit organisation, under the umbrella of M.A.L.E., was created out of the desire to mentor, help train, develop, and create support systems and opportunities for the young ladies aged 7-21 years old throughout the territory. Our donation will be used to purchase new uniforms for the mentees and leaders and will help to provide refreshments and materials to facilitate their regular Saturday sessions.

Girl Guiding BVI

The Girlguiding Association has been in the British Virgin Islands for over 80 years. They are a female-led non-profit organisation that supports young girls, with an aim to build confidence and raise aspirations. They give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good, as well as providing a safe space to have adventure and fun.

Unfortunately Hurricane Irma displaced them from their usual meeting place in Tortola. Our donation will be used towards the rebuilding of this space, which is used for the regular unit meetings, as well as other local community activities.

Jaleel Cameron Foundation

Jaleel Cameron was born with epilepsy, and whilst he was diagnosed in the United States, he felt that his condition should be treatable in the BVI. His mission was to help alleviate the cost to persons who were affected by epilepsy, having to travel overseas for testing. This conviction led Jaleel to embark on fundraising to assist the BVI Health Services in obtaining an Electroencephalogram (EEG) Machine. Jaleel along with a team of eight persons sold bottled water and raised approximately $27,000 to purchase the machine.

As the Foundation grows, our donation will be used towards the provision of a scholarship for someone wishing to study in the medical field, specifically those with an interest in operating the EEG machine at the Dr D Orlando Smith hospital.

Mentoring Anointed Leaders Everywhere (M.A.L.E)

M.A.L.E is an innovative programme that we have supported for a number of years. It is generated to cater to the effective guiding of young boys along their journey to adulthood.

They offer the boys a safe environment where they can talk about their struggles in their everyday lives, where they are praised for their unique gifts, supported when they make mistakes and a community of mentors who listen and believe in their ability to become great men.

Our donation will be used towards the starting of a Culinary Programme.

Safe Haven Transitional Centre

The Safe Haven Transitional Centre serves inpatient and outpatient client by providing services such as therapeutic individual and group counselling sessions, health and wellness initiatives, addiction and recovery initiatives, outdoor therapeutic activities, community outreach and advocacy initiatives, housing, nutritional meals, rehabilitation services, and life in balance initiatives.

Our donation was used during the holiday season to provide seasonal gifts to the 14 individuals currently receiving inpatient care at the centre and one outpatient.

Virgin Islands Cadet Corps

The Virgin Islands Cadet Corps is a national voluntary youth development programme based on selected aspects of military training and discipline which, along with other training and experiences, seek to produce future leaders in the British Virgin Islands.

Our donation will be used towards the purchase of a new bus to aid in the transportation of children to various functions, including Saturday training.

Women In Need (WIN) BVI

WIN have been providing much needed assistance to Women in and around the BVI with free counselling, tutoring, and mentoring.  Our donation will be used to support two of their signature programmes: Reclaiming me - which provides healing from trauma, abuse and other mental stresses, as well as their WINners programme - which provides counselling and other educational platforms for women.

Zonta Club of Tortola

The Zonta Club of Tortola (ZOT) is a service organisation of professional women committed to advancing the status of women through service and advocacy and are celebrating our 11th year of existence in the BVI. Violence against women and girls is one of the most pervasive human rights violations and is found globally. The British Virgin Islands is no exception. Our donation will be used to support the "Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women" campaign, one of the many initiatives they run which provides counselling support to women who are or were in abusive relationships.
