Mourant supports popular Guernsey responsible gaming and online safety event for a second year

We were pleased to once again sponsor the annual Ace Invaders event in Guernsey which took place on Saturday 24 January. The purpose of the free event is to connect like-minded young people and upskilling them with the knowledge and understanding to safely explore the online world.

This year's event was a huge success, bringing together hundreds of the island's gaming enthusiasts to celebrate their passion.

On the day, there were live gaming tournaments, prize giveaways and a range of activities for attendees. A number of Guernsey stakeholders in the gaming and IT industry were also there, running interactive stands promoting digital literacy, internet safety and innovation.

The founder of Ace Invaders is Matthew Parker, our firm's Chief Information Security Officer. Commenting on what inspired him, Matthew said:

"We want to nurture the curiosity of the younger generation, so they can get the most out of this new era of online connectivity and elevated gaming experiences. However, with technology rapidly developing past the rate of regulation and protection, it has never been more important to learn how to navigate the online world with responsibility and caution. This event is not about fearmongering. It's about empowering everyone to find joy and fun online, but importantly with the confidence to do so not at their own risk.

"The event is specifically made to be free, so anyone and everyone can access this education. Ace Invaders wouldn’t be possible without the loyal support from our sponsors. Similarly, our passionate volunteers are at the heart of it, driven by their commitment to the next generation of Guernsey’s digital community."
