Q&A with Josie Ewing: From Team Jets to Client Services and the corporate netball court
As part of our firm's ongoing commitment to supporting community sport and encouraging active, connected workplaces, we're proud to continue our role as Performance Partner for Jersey-based netball club, Evelyn Partners Jets (Team Jets).
2025 was the fifth consecutive year of our sponsorship of Team Jets' Seniors, U16 and U14 squads, and we will be continuing this support throughout the 2026 season.
Coached by world-class netball player, Serena Kersten MBE, our sponsorship contributes to the teams' travel costs, enabling them to compete in competitions across the UK.
This partnership doesn’t just support performance at the top level of island netball – it also inspires our own people to get involved, stay active and enjoy the benefits of team sport.
Few embody that connection better than Josie Ewing. Alongside her role in the Client Services team within Mourant Governance Services, Josie has an impressive background in netball, from her early days representing Jersey, to playing in the national league with Team Jets. Now, she brings that same passion, experience and team spirit to our firm's corporate netball team, helping colleagues build confidence, enjoy the game and connect with one another.
The team competes in Jersey Netball's Corporate Mixed Netball League, which is so popular that places sell out within days of going live. With 16 mixed teams across two divisions, the league brings people of all abilities together for a fun, competitive and social experience.
Can you tell us how your netball journey began?
JE: I’ve been playing netball since primary school. I fell in love with it straight away. When I was 10, I was selected for the Jersey U11s team, which felt like a huge milestone for me at that age.
What was the turning point in your netball career?
JE: When I joined Team Jets in my early twenties was when things really took off for me. I played with them until 2022, when I decided to step back from competitive netball.
What did being part of Team Jets mean to you?
JE: It honestly felt like being part of a family. We spent so much time together, celebrated the highs, supported each other through the lows, and grew together as players. It was a truly rewarding experience.
You’re now part of Mourant's corporate netball team. How does that feel compared to playing for Team Jets?
JE: I love it. I still bring plenty of competitive spirit, but the focus is more on enjoying the game and making sure everyone feels supported, especially those coming back to netball after a break or playing for the first time. It’s about building confidence, teamwork and having fun.
What’s your favourite thing about the corporate team?
JE: It’s such a good way to switch off after a day at work. We get moving, have a laugh and connect in a completely different setting with colleagues across all departments. It brings real energy and fun into the week. I also really enjoy that as the league is mixed, it's completely inclusive and encourages everyone to get involved, no matter their gender or experience, and that makes a big difference to how comfortable people feel. I like that it creates a supportive environment where you can just enjoy playing, meet new people, and be part of a team without any pressure.
How does our partnership with Team Jets influence what happens in the office?
JE: Seeing the success of our top-level players on the island inspires people here to get involved and enjoy the sport. I'm proud to be a link between the two.
