Mourant supports real estate investment manager with successful UK student housing partnership

We are pleased to have supported Tokoro Capital (Tokoro) with the launch of its long-term strategic partnership targeting UK student housing assets.
The £200m vehicle, created together with Tokoro's integrated student management business, Homie, and GCM Grosvenor (Nasdaq: GCMG), will focus on acquiring and repositioning traditional houses of multiple occupancy (HMO) and first-generation purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) which will provide domestic students with more affordable rental options than traditional, highly amenitised PBSA.
Our Jersey team have worked with Tokoro for several years with our Luxembourg office providing pan-European support since 2025. This year, our London office delivered additional services directly in relation to Homie.
Tokoro is an independent B Corp real estate investment manager established in 2018 focused on the UK and Europe.
The company backed the launch of Homie in 2024 to establish an HMO-focused platform capable of scaling and applying institutional discipline to what has historically been a fragmented and operationally complex asset class.
The partnership, including GCMG, has already secured an initial seed portfolio of 440 beds, which, once closed, will position Homie as one of the largest institutional managers of student HMOs in the UK.
