Guernsey associate achieves full STEP membership

27 March 2018

Mourant Ozannes' Guernsey associate, Catherine Moore, has qualified as a trust and estate practitioner (TEP), obtaining full membership with STEP.

Catherine, who is part of the firm's award winning International Trust and Private Client (ITPC) practice, recently qualified as a full member of STEP through the Society's qualified practitioner route. This is one of the foremost recognised qualifications in the trust and private client industry and demonstrates a practitioner's level of expertise in this area. To be eligible to complete the qualification by this route, a practitioner must have at least five years' experience in the field.

She said: "Being accepted for full STEP membership has allowed me to further my knowledge in both the legal aspects of trust and private client work, as well as the practical and administrative issues which arise. I have found it particularly interesting to learn about this area from that perspective. Mourant Ozannes has been encouraging of me becoming a TEP and really values this achievement. The firm is very supportive of staff who wish to undertake professional qualifications and further their careers with Mourant Ozannes."

Catherine is a qualified solicitor (England and Wales, currently non-practising) and a Guernsey advocate. She has experience in Guernsey private structures including trusts, foundations, limited partnerships and corporate vehicles as well as advising in respect of employee pension schemes. Catherine has advised on a number of contentious and non-contentious trust matters, working with trust companies, intermediaries, high net worth individuals and their families. She also advises on succession and wills.

Mourant Ozannes partner and head of ITPC in Guernsey, Matthew Guthrie, said: "Catherine's full STEP membership is a clear demonstration of her commitment to her field of work and we are very proud of her achievements. Mourant Ozannes is committed to delivering unrivalled client service, and one of the ways that we achieve this is by providing our people with the tools and opportunities to achieve their career ambitions with us."
