Mourant Ozannes receives Asian-mena Counsel 'Deals of the Year 2017' acknowledgement

Offshore leading law firm, Mourant Ozannes has received Asian-mena Counsel's 'Deals of the Year 2017' recognition for advising in the high profile Karot hydropower plant project in Pakistan.

This deal is the first infrastructure project to be announced under China's 'One Belt, One Road' economic development initiative to increase global trade and regional connectivity. The firm's market leading Hong Kong banking and finance team advised Export-Import Bank of China, China Development Bank, Silk Road Fund and International Finance Corporation in connection with a US$1.392 billion facility provided to Karot Power Company (Private) Limited. 

This year, the firm's involvement in the Karot hydropower plant project has gained recognition for China Business Law Journal 'Deal of the Year' as well as winning an award at the IJGlobal Awards 2017 which took place in Singapore in March.

The Karot hydropower project team was led by partner, Simon Lawrenson, with senior associate, Paul Trewartha, who worked alongside a range of international counsel including Shearman & Sterling Shanghai.
