Mourant is delighted to reveal the vibrant Chinese inspired design of their life-sized gorilla sculpture featuring in Durrell's Go Wild Gorillas public art trail in Jersey this summer.

To reflect the firm's global perspective, Mourant selected the striking and imaginative design of up and coming artist Jessica Perrin which beautifully and vibrantly captures an Asian style. Influenced by ancient Chinese art and folklore, 'King (Hong) Kong' depicts a Chinese dragon bringing something unique to this island-wide trail with his eye catching tail.

Mourant Jersey Managing Partner, Daniel Birtwistle, said: "We're really excited to be supporting this new community initiative for Jersey with a design that brings a splash of international colour to the trail. As a firm we have a distinctive global view and are our people are intrinsically connected working with clients across key international finance centres, including Hong Kong. The sculpture, designed and painted by Jessica, reflects this global perspective and is an amazing expression of Chinese-inspired art. We hope that people of all ages go out and explore the trail and visit the many beautiful gorilla sculptures including our very own King (Hong) Kong."

Go Wild Gorillas is a celebration of Durrell’s 60th anniversary and will lead people on a trail of discovery, not only to see the gorillas themselves, but explore Jersey's beautiful surroundings. This large scale community project, in partnership with Wild in Art, plays an important role in Durrell’s new strategy by encouraging more people to get outdoors and reconnect with nature.

Dan Birtwistle added: "As a large employer, we recognise the real importance of focusing on our people's wellbeing and promoting a healthy lifestyle. This vibrant art trail is a great way to inspire people to get outdoors while also supporting Durrell as they fundraise for a new gorilla house at Jersey Zoo."

King (Hong) Kong is one of forty life size fiberglass gorilla sculptures that will be on display around Jersey from 27 July – 14 October 2019. Young Gorilla hunters who find King (Hong) Kong on the trail will be able to download from the GoWild App a unique competition from Mourant and the chance to win a meerkat and otter experience at Jersey Zoo.
