Mourant Office Managing Partner elected as Academician

Mourant Guernsey Managing Partner, Matthew Guthrie, has been elected as an Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law.

As head of Mourant's successful International Trusts & Private Client practice in Guernsey, Matthew is known for his work in wealth structuring and asset protection through trusts and other vehicles to trust companies, international families and high-net-worth individuals. Matthew also advises on all Guernsey law aspects of international pension schemes, employee benefit trusts and share option schemes for multinational corporations.

Membership of the Academy, which is made up of leading estate and trust lawyers who practice in 41 countries, is by invitation only. All Academicians must have practiced law in the Academy's areas of interest for at least 10 years, distinguishing themselves through lecturing, writing or via participation in professional organisations.

Established in 1975, The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law concentrates on the analysis of the substantive requirements and the tax consequences of the transfer of wealth.

Matthew is listed as a leading practitioner by all of the main legal directories including the prestigious Legal Week Private Client Global Elite directory, 2019. Matthew joins his Mourant colleagues Jonathan Speck and Tony Pursall who were elected as an Academician in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
