Mourant paralegals pass first stage of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination

25 January 2022

Mourant London-based paralegals Kelly Reed and Juliane Kallas have passed the first stage of their Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE).

The SRA launched its new SQE qualification route in September 2021 in England and Wales.

Candidates must pass two sets of assessments – SQE1 and SQE2 – and complete two years of qualifying work experience. The first SQE1 assessment was taken by 1,090 candidates last November across more than 100 test centres in 26 countries with the regulator announcing a 53% pass rate.

Kelly commented: "I'm extremely grateful to Mourant for the opportunity to take the SQE. Supporting us through this new route to qualification demonstrates the firm's progressive culture. The encouragement I've received from my team and colleagues across the firm has been a huge help in getting to this stage."

Juliane added: "I appreciate the opportunity Mourant has given us to undertake the SQE qualification route, and in particular the support and encouragement I've received from the Jersey and London teams throughout the process."
