Mourant pledges support to Cayman Islands youth basketball teams
We are delighted to announce our partnership with the Cayman Islands Basketball Association (CIBA) as official sponsor of its Inter-Primary School Boys and Girls Basketball Leagues. This partnership will directly support youth development and grassroots sport in the Cayman Islands.
CIBA is a non-profit organisation that acts as the governing body for basketball in the Cayman Islands. Its membership comprises more than 1,500 active athletes, and it organises leagues for a number of age groups.
CIBA's Inter-Primary School League continues to experience year-on-year growth, with the 2025 season featuring 31 boys' and girls' teams from primary schools across the island. This strong level of participation reflects the increasing enthusiasm for basketball at grassroots level and the important role school sports plays in physical development, teamwork, and character building.
The Inter-Primary School League serves as a critical foundation within CIBA's player development pathway, with many national and club-level athletes having first discovered their love for the game through school competitions played as part of the league.
Our firm's sponsorship has had an immediate and tangible impact on the players, with our funding covering uniforms for all participating schools in the Inter-Primary School Boys and Girls Basketball Leagues, ensuring that every child is able to take the court feeling confident, included, and proud to represent their school.
Our Cayman Islands Managing Partner, Hayden Isbister, commented:
"The Cayman Islands Basketball Association is a fantastic organisation and continues to make an impact through its commitment to championing grassroots sport on the island. Through our firm's sponsorship I am pleased that we can alleviate the financial burden of providing uniforms to the Inter-Primary School League players, and we wish them every success for the 2026 season."
CIBA President, Collin Anglin, added:
"At CIBA, our mission is to grow the game from the ground up. Support from corporate partners like Mourant makes a real difference. Their investment goes beyond sponsorship – it's an investment in youth, education, and the future of basketball in the Cayman Islands. On behalf of CIBA, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mourant for their commitment to youth sport and for helping make this season of the Inter-Primary School League one of our most successful yet. We look forward to building on this partnership and continuing to create meaningful sporting opportunities for Cayman’s young athletes."
As a firm, we have been longstanding supporters of grassroots sport across many of the island communities where we are based. Recently, this has included committing to ongoing support as Performance Partner for Jersey-based netball club, Team Jets. We have also recently pledged our support to the Mourant Girls Academy, part of the wider Guernsey Football Association, for a sixth consecutive year.
