Continued Legal 500 recognition for Mourant in Asia

The Mourant team in Hong Kong has maintained its position as one of the leading offshore firms in Asia in this year's Legal 500 Asia Pacific directory. 

Legal 500 notes that the team provides a "commercial and responsive" service across a broad spectrum of matters and service areas.

Mourant has been the fastest growing offshore law firm in the region since the launch of its Hong Kong office in 2012. Mourant Hong Kong Managing Partner, Paul Christopher, said: "Of those offshore firms which have established a presence in Asia in the last ten years, we are the only firm to be included in the rankings. This reflects the widely held view that Mourant is the leading alternative offshore law firm in Asia."

Paul is praised as "professional and responsive". Paul is acknowledged as a 'leading individual' who "maintains a healthy corporate and funds practice, particularly within the private equity space."

Simon Lawrenson, head of the Banking & Finance practice which advises many of the leading international and Chinese private equity sponsors and other alternative financial institutions on their debt and credit investments, is described as a "very safe pair of hands". Simon is listed as a 'leading individual' in the directory.

Partner Danielle Roman is "one of the go-to-lawyers in the market for fund financing work". Danielle is also commended for her "strong reputation within the aviation sector" and is identified as a 'next generation partner' by the publication.

Claire Fulton, Partner specialising in finance and restructuring is called a "class act", the directory also attests that "she is particularly effective on realising value for clients in distressed situations". Claire is recognised as a 'next generation partner'.

Litigation head Shaun Folpp is featured for his ability to handle "a range of commercial disputes in addition to contentious insolvency mandates".

This recognition follows the firm also maintaining its high ranking in the Asia-Pacific edition of the Chambers and Partners directory, further reflecting its ongoing strategic expansion in Asia.

In the last 12 months Mourant Hong Kong has also won and been shortlisted for a series of industry awards, including China Business Law Journal 'Deal of the Year', the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards and the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2019.
