Mourant Hong Kong recognised by world's leading legal directories

Mourant Hong Kong has been recognised by two of the world's leading legal directories for its work on many of the most significant offshore transactions and cases in the market in the last 12 months.

The firm maintained its high rankings in both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, reflecting its ongoing strategic expansion in Asia. Legal 500 reported that "the quality of the team based in Hong Kong is exceptional", while Chambers & Partners noted how "they go the extra mile to understand the clients' needs and provide unrivalled technical advice".

Hong Kong Managing Partner, Paul Christopher, was praised by clients for being "practical, pragmatic" and finding "workable solutions". Corporate and Finance specialist, Simon Lawrenson, was hailed as "one of the most technically able lawyers in the offshore community" and recognised for his work assisting many of the world's leading private equity houses and financial institutions. The "well regarded" Danielle Roman was commended for her broad-ranging finance expertise, with one interviewee attesting, "she is incredibly committed to client service and provides practical and innovative solutions for complex matters."

Shaun Folpp, who heads up the rapidly expanding litigation and restructuring and insolvency practice in Asia, "possesses significant experience in insolvency matters as well as general commercial litigation". Partner and finance and restructuring specialist, Claire Fulton, was praised for her experience in the leveraged finance space, which "means she is well aware of the issues and pressures felt by onshore lawyers on leveraged buyouts".

The recognition follows hot on the heels of the team's success at the China Business Law Journal Awards, where Mourant was awarded 'Deal of the Year' award for two landmark China-related deals from 2018. The firm also recently announced the appointment of Hong Kong based insolvency and commercial litigation specialist, Justine Lau, to its partnership.
