Mourant warmly congratulates former partner Mark Temple KC on his appointment as Deputy Bailiff of Jersey, a role that represents one of the most significant honours within the Island’s legal system.
His appointment has been approved by His Majesty King Charles III and announced in the States Assembly, marking an important moment for Jersey’s judiciary.
Mark has served the Island with commitment and distinction over many years. Since 2020 he has held office as Jersey’s Attorney General, having previously served for five years as HM Solicitor General.
Before entering public service, Mark spent a period in private practice, including time as a partner at Mourant Ozannes (Mourant). He qualified as a Jersey advocate 20 years ago, was appointed as King’s Counsel in 2015 and has long been recognised for his deep understanding of Jersey law and his thoughtful, measured approach to legal decision-making.
The Deputy Bailiff plays a central role in the administration of justice in Jersey, presiding over the Royal Court, supporting the Bailiff and contributing to the effective functioning of the Island’s legal and constitutional framework. Mark’s extensive experience across both private practice and senior public office makes him exceptionally well placed to take on the responsibilities of this high judicial position.
Everyone at Mourant extends sincere congratulations to Mark on this well deserved achievement. We remain proud of his association with the firm and wish him every success as he begins this new chapter in his distinguished career.
