Two lawyers from Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, have been called to the Guernsey Bar.
On Monday 9 December Mourant LP Partner James Cousins and Senior Associate Alex Garner were admitted as Advocates of the Royal Court of Guernsey, following the successful completion of their Guernsey Bar exams.
James is a member of the Guernsey Corporate practice, specialising in investment funds. His practice spans all aspects of asset management. He has a particular interest in alternative investments but advises broadly across all fund types and asset classes. James advises clients on the full fund lifecycle from formation to maintenance to distributions and dissolutions, in addition to general corporate, finance, and regulatory advisory work.
Alex is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. He advises on a broad range of complex and high value commercial matters with particular experience in contentious trust issues, contractual disputes and insolvency.
Commenting on the appointments, Guernsey Managing Partner, John Lewis, said:
“We are delighted to congratulate Alex and James on their success at becoming Advocates of the Royal Court of Guernsey. I am well aware of the months of commitment and hard work that went into achieving this success. Alex and James are huge assets to our Guernsey office and both have bright futures ahead of them at Mourant.”
