Jersey Property team’s beach clean

Jersey is known for its beautiful beaches, but even here, litter can be a problem. So, four of the Jersey Property team donned our rubber gloves last month and carried out a beach clean at Havre des Pas.

Collecting a bucketful of rubbish in 40 minutes, we were surprised by the range of things found – everything from beer bottles to razors! But always seeking an opportunity to learn, we enjoyed Senior Conveyancer Jonathan Dauny’s potted history of the old brick track that we found in the shoreline; apparently evidence of a bygone boat yard. ESG and CPD all in one lunch hour!

In 2022, Mourant launched the Mourant Ocean Pledge, where we committed to investing in activities and initiatives to protect and conserve marine conservation. This was particularly important to us, given many of our jurisdictions are islands.

In support of our pledge, we engage in local conservation activities, including regular beach cleans, across all our offices. The firm also maintains ongoing partnerships with not-for-profit organisations committed to protecting our oceans, including Blue Marine Foundation, Ocean Culture Life and Plastic Free Cayman. These organisations have helped us to engage our employees, clients, local schools, and other businesses in our local communities.
