Mauritius team participates in ‘Tiny Forest’ tree planting initiative
Colleagues from our Mauritius office recently came together to support an impactful environmental initiative with the planting of a ‘Tiny Forest’ in the town of Beau Plan, located in the northern region of the island. This hands-on activity reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
During a morning dedicated to community gardening, the team planted 300 endemic plant species across a compact 100-square-metre plot. Despite its modest size, the Tiny Forest project is designed to be dense and biodiverse, mimicking natural forest ecosystems and accelerating ecological benefits within urban and semi-urban spaces.
Beau Plan is a 10-minute drive from the northern coasts and the centre of the island, and a 15-minute drive from Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. The area has flourished over the past eight years, with more than 20 tree planting projects developed, offering a vibrant living environment.
By participating in initiatives like this, our Mauritius team continues to play an active role in supporting environmental preservation while strengthening ties with the local community.
Beyond its ecological value, the Tiny Forest initiative offers tangible benefits to local residents. These micro-forests contribute to improved air quality by producing oxygen, help reduce noise pollution, and create a natural buffer that protects surrounding homes. They also enhance biodiversity, foster environmental awareness, and provide welcoming green spaces for the wider community.
