Fraud and scam communications
Fraudsters may sometimes misuse the Mourant name, or the names of our partners, lawyers or employees, in scam emails, calls, messages or letters.
These communications do not come from Mourant systems, but they may be designed to look genuine. Their purpose is often to obtain money, personal data, bank details or confidential information.
Please take care with any unexpected communication that appears to be from Mourant, particularly if it asks you to act urgently, make a payment, change payment details, provide personal or financial information, open an attachment or click on a link.
Mourant emails are sent from our official domain: @mourant.com. We do not use personal email accounts such as Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook or Yahoo for Mourant business. Always check the sender’s email address carefully, as fraudsters may use domains that look similar to a genuine Mourant address but are not the same.
You should be cautious if a communication claiming to be from Mourant:
- uses unusual wording, poor grammar or spelling mistakes
- asks you to open an attachment or click on a link
- asks for confidential, personal or financial information
- asks you to transfer money or change payment details
- creates a sense of urgency or pressure
If you are unsure whether a communication is genuine, do not reply, click any links, open attachments, provide information or make any payment.
Unfortunately, Mourant cannot prevent scam communications that do not originate from our systems. We encourage clients, contacts and members of the public to remain alert and to use trusted contact details when checking the authenticity of any communication.
