We're proud to support the communities in which we live and work

Our Community Investment Programme provides financial and in-kind support to various community group and charities in the British Virgin Islands, ranging from sports groups through to educational programmes, mentoring and special needs establishments.

Our beneficiaries for 2019/2020 include the organisations listed below. If you would like to be considered for future funding, please email your application to bvi@mourant.com

  • Dream Big

  • We're really pleased to support this non-profit organisation in it's infancy that has one single and simple goal of restoring smiles, love and positivity to the BVI by empowering the youth and encouraging them to spark life into their dreams.

With our assistance, they've purchased supplies that will be donated to The Rainbow Children's Home, a local organisation that currently houses four children ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old. The organisation works to improve the quality of life and education for the children living in the home. The Rainbow Children’s Home also serves as a local Autism Centre.

  • Family Support Network

  • We're thrilled to support the Family Support Network (FSN) again this year. Our sponsorship will help re-launch the 'Help for Children' breakfast initiative. This programme will provide breakfast for children in need during the school year.

The FSN was established in 1989 and since then has been a trail blazer in family services within the BVI. In its commencement, FSN's focus was mainly to work with women and children that were victims of domestic violence. Through the years, FSN has expanded and evolved its services that now entail food pantry, thrift shop, counselling, crisis intervention, advocacy for domestic violence victims, sexual abuse against children, various groups for anger management, women empowerment groups and aiding with protection orders.

    Lions Club of Tortola

  • We've partnered with the Lions Club of Tortola on their Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre's Special Projects Initiative (EHRLC Special Projects Initiative). Our donation will assist with the purchase of iPads for the EHRLC that are used as visual teaching aids for the students with writing challenges.

The Lions Club of Tortola is a member of the Lions Club International, a worldwide service organisation in 200 countries/geographic areas with over 48,000 clubs and memberships exceeding 1.4 million.

  • M.A.L.E.

  • M.A.L.E. (Mentoring Anointed Leaders Everywhere) is a non-profit organisation that is persistent to make a difference within the lives of our young men within territory. It is an innovative programme that was effectively guides young boys along their journey to adulthood. Officially founded on 15 February, 2014 M.A.L.E. was established for young men to cultivate, foster, renew and promote activities that will enrich the lives of its members and the BVI community at large. It currently has over 90 members and 15 mentors across the Tortola and Virgin Gorda locations.

Our support will enable M.A.L.E. to provide food and drinks at their regular Saturday meetings and to purchase t-shirts for both the mentors and mentees of the programme. It will also assist with an Award/Promotion Dinner where several of the mentees will be promoted to Junior Mentors in training and Junior Mentors promoted to Mentors in training.

  • Paw BVI

  • PAW BVI (Promoting Animal Welfare) is a non-profit organisation that was established in the BVI in 2014, with the aim of reducing the number of abandoned, homeless and unwanted animals in the BVI.

Our sponsorship will contribute towards their local spay and neuter programme, which has a significant positive impact on both the BVI environment and community. To date, PAW BVI has sponsored over 1,700 spay/neuter surgeries.

  • Youth Empowerment Project

The Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) is a privately funded youth centre in the BVI that opened its doors in May 2007. YEP has provided meaningful activities for over 4,000 children in the past 15 years.

Our donation will establish a Mourant Snorkelling Club at YEP. Snorkelling is a wonderful way for children to explore and helps instil a love of the marine environment, with the hopes of creating future advocates for marine conservation and protection. The Mourant Snorkelling Club will take children on monthly snorkelling outings to marine habitats around Tortola and the Sister Islands and will include weekly sessions during the summer programme.
