Mourant trusts team achieves top position in Chambers High Net Worth Guide

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services firm, has achieved a Band 1 position in the latest Chambers and Partners High Net Worth (HNW) Guide for Offshore Trusts in Jersey, and is praised as "strongest trusts team in Jersey".

The firm's Guernsey practice maintained its Band 2 position, and is recognised for being "extremely good in the trust space". In total, ten Mourant lawyers [across the Channel Islands and Caribbean] have been ranked in the trust and private client practitioner tables.

Mourant Senior Partner and leading trust litigator, Jonathan Speck is ranked in the highest category - Star Individual – in Jersey, by the Guide. He is described as the "top trust litigator on the island." Another source says that "Jonathan comes across as a massive strategic thinker," and adds that he is "very calm" and "very measured." Mourant International Head of Trust & Private Client, Edward Devenport is ranked as a Band 1 lawyer who is "very responsive, very pragmatic and always straight to the point. He always helps to find a solution." And Jersey Head of Litigation, Bruce Lincoln, is recognised for having in-depth expertise and experience in contentious trust and private client matters.

In Guernsey, partner Christopher Edwards is described as "a true expert on trust issues," explaining that "he is excellent at mediation; he is a calm and unaggressive presence in the room. He can handle complex family dynamics. He is responsive and intelligent." While Gillian Kennedy-Smith is placed as a rising star, having joined Mourant recently from Mills & Reeve in London.

Consultant Tony Pursall is recognised in the expertise abroad category for both the BVI and Cayman Islands. He is named as someone "that has a feel for the real peculiarities in trust and company law" and is also "very well respected as an author."
