Mourant wins India Business Law Journal Deal of the Year

26 February 2019

Mourant has received India Business Law Journal Awards 'Deal of the Year' recognition for its involvement advising Raksha Energy Holdings Limited on its successful UK Takeover Code governed acquisition of AIM-listed, Mytrah Energy Limited, in a takeover transaction that valued Mytrah at US$100 million.

Mytrah is a large independent power producer in the Indian renewable energy sector, which had been listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange since 2010. The company has a portfolio of 1,743 MW of installed and under construction renewable power projects across nine Indian states, and one of the largest wind data banks in India.

Mourant LP Partner John Rochester led the team advising Raksha, assisted by Counsel Alex Davies and Associate Alana Nisbet. Raksha was also advised by Squire Patton Boggs LLP in London & Birmingham who managed the transaction in conjunction with exclusive financial adviser, Craven Street Capital Limited.

The team working on the matter comprised Mourant lawyers based in Guernsey, Jersey and the British Virgin Islands. John said: "Our unique global perspective helped us provide a seamless service on the various corporate and finance aspects of this complex acquisition, across several jurisdictions and significant time zones, and is representative of our market leading position for international public markets deals."

India Business Law Journal selected certain landmark deals and disputes that were completed between November 2017 and November 2018, based on transactional data, submissions received from Indian and international law firms, and interviews with India-focused legal and corporate professionals.
