One of the options available to clients seeking recovery of an unsatisfied debt owed by an individual or company linked with the Island is an application for a declaration en désastre. The local equivalent of a bankruptcy or winding-up petition under English law, the availability of this statutory discretionary remedy is governed by the provisions of the Bankruptcy (Désastre) Jersey Law 1990.
