Milestone for Mourant: three seminars in China

24 June 2019

Thanks to all the guest speakers and delegates who've joined us at our special 'Greater China Offshore Investment Summit' seminar series, which closed with the third and final event in Shanghai last week. Shanghai saw over 120 delegates join us for a range of panel sessions and presentations, in conjunction with China Money Network and CLECSS Education.

Our speakers delivered their unique global perspective on the pros and cons on various investment and financing structures, practical tips on structuring offshore investments, and insights on key issues to consider in debt restructurings, as well as recent trends in litigation involving Chinese parties. Our whole series has involved excellent external speakers. Specifically in Shanghai last week, Vivian Tsoi from White & Case and Nelson Zhou from Junhe joined Paul Christopher and Partner, Simon Lawrenson in a thought provoking panel discussion, 'China outbound investment - Solutions for investors'; and Mourant partner, Justine Lau was joined by Molly Su from King & Wood Mallesons and Ming Xie from Deloitte in an lively panel discussion, with expert insight into 'Debt Restructuring of WOFEs: a case study on turnaround options onshore and offshore'.

Mourant Head of Litigation, Shaun Folpp presented on, 'Trends in Cayman Islands and BVI Litigation: a focus on Chinese disputes'. Senior Associate, Belinda Zhang and partner, Danielle Roman gave a presentation on Fund Structuring and Subscription Financing. This seminar also included the addition of an introduction to Economic Substance for the first time, presented by Senior Associate, James Broad

If you are interested in attending a future event in the PRC please do get in touch.
