Mourant celebrates 15 years in Asia

We are proud to celebrate a significant milestone for our firm, marking 15 years since the launch of our first Asia office in Hong Kong.

Our Hong Kong office initially opened with three partners, including Simon Lawrenson, who is now Global Practice Leader for Finance and Corporate based in Hong Kong, and Alex Last, Global Practice Leader for Investment Funds, now based in our London office. Current Hong Kong Managing Partner, Danielle Roman, also joined the firm at the time of the Hong Kong office opening.

This was followed by the launch of Mourant Ozannes Corporate Services (now known as Mourant Governance Services) in 2015, providing clients with incorporation, registered office and other corporate services for Hong Kong, Cayman and BVI entities.

In October 2023, we enhanced our offering with the launch of a new office in Singapore, expanding our geographical reach in the region and capitalising on the rising significance of Singapore as a global finance centre.

In 2024, we further expanded our offering in Singapore with the launch of Mourant Governance Services Singapore, providing company secretarial, board support and fiduciary services for Singapore, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands entities.

Today, our Asia team advises on many of the region’s most significant and complex cross-border transactions, working alongside leading financial institutions, asset managers, corporates, investors and international law firms.

This 15-year anniversary celebration follows the announcement in August 2026 that our firm has secured a minority equity investment by MML, a specialist provider of partnership capital. The investment will support our business’s continued focus on delivering exceptional client service and will include further investment in technology, particularly in AI-enabled systems and data infrastructure, and in its people, through enhanced career pathways and the development of next generation talent.

It will also support measured geographic expansion across the world’s leading International Financial Centres, including through carefully selected M&A opportunities, strategic law firm partnerships and lateral hires.
