Mourant advises Hines on off-market acquisition
05 November 2021
Mourant's Corporate team has advised Hines, the international real estate firm on its acquisition of 18 Blackfriars Road, a 1.8-acre development site in a prime Central London location, with planning consent for a mixed-use scheme.
The acquisition was structured as a purchase of a Guernsey incorporated holding company. Guernsey based partner John Rochester, together with Alana Gillies and Emma Alderton, lead a multi-jurisdictional team spanning Mourant's Guernsey, Jersey and BVI offices to support lead counsel BCLP on the corporate aspects of the transaction.
Hines has a strong recent track record of investing in London, capitalising on the demand for high-quality office and mixed-use spaces, and will lead the development with development specialists Lipton Rogers Developments. Upon completion, the site will have a gross development value in excess of £1 billion.
Mourant Partner John Rochester commented: "We are delighted to have supported Hines on this landmark transaction, alongside the BCLP deal team, and are very much looking forward to following Hines' plans for the site – we are particularly excited by Hines' commitment to ensuring ESG is at the forefront of this exciting project."
