INSOL International Channel Islands Seminar

INSOL International is returning to Guernsey this summer for the INSOL International Channel Islands Seminar, bringing together insolvency and restructuring professionals for a focused and engaging programme.

Stephan Venter is on the organising committee for the event and has played an important role in developing the 2026 programme.

In addition, Guernsey Partner Sandra Duerden will chair the session ‘Trust Structures Under Scrutiny: Limits, Leverage and Creditors.’ With recent English Court of Appeal decisions resulting in a renewed focus on the limits of trust structures when they come under pressure, the session will examine how those authorities interact with offshore trust arrangements, exploring when such structures are upheld, when they are challenged, and how issues of solvency, priority and the payment of creditors are addressed in practice.

The speakers will also consider how trust structures may be used – legitimately or otherwise – to place assets beyond the reach of creditors, and how courts respond when those strategies are tested.
