We are celebrating one of our Guernsey lawyers being sworn in as an Advocate before the Royal Court of Guernsey.

Amelia Brewer-Marchant (née Bridel) is an Associate in our Guernsey Corporate practice, advising clients on a range of corporate, finance, investment funds and regulatory advisory matters.

Her practice encompasses a wide variety of corporate transactions and advisory work for both local and international clients.

On joining Mourant in 2022, Amelia completed her legal training with the firm while undertaking the Legal Practice Course (LPC). She qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2024. Amelia also holds a Master of Laws with Distinction from the University of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from Durham University.

Amelia successfully completed the Guernsey Bar Examinations in May 2026 and obtained a Certificat d’Études Juridiques Françaises et Normandes from the University of Caen the following month. She was admitted as a Guernsey Advocate in September 2026.

“We’re delighted to celebrate this significant milestone in Amelia’s legal career. The route to becoming a Guernsey Advocate is rigorous and demanding, and Amelia has demonstrated exceptional commitment throughout her training with the firm. Her admission further strengthens our Guernsey legal practice and reflects our continued commitment to developing talented lawyers who will contribute to the future of the profession in the island.”

In 2024, the Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE) replaced the LPC as the main route to qualification.

Applications for our 2027 SQE Trainee Programme in Guernsey are open until 29 November 2026. Over the course of the two years, trainees will obtain the necessary practical experience rotating between practice groups, whilst also studying for the SQE.
