Cayman Islands: STAR Trusts

STAR trusts are a type of trust created by statute (the STAR Law) and unique to the Cayman Islands. They can be established for the benefit of any number of persons or the furtherance of any number of purposes (charitable or non-charitable) or a combination of both. The common law rules relating to ordinary (i.e. non-STAR) continues to apply to STAR trusts, except as otherwise amended by the STAR Law.
