We have opened applications for our SQE Trainee Programme in Guernsey. The course combines hands-on legal experience with study for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), in order to become qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales.

The two-year fixed-term programme will begin in September 2027 at our Guernsey office in the heart of St Peter Port. During the programme, trainees will gain the necessary practical experience rotating between practice groups, whilst also studying for the SQE.

We are encouraging applications from graduates from a wide range of academic backgrounds, and a law degree is not required.

Joining Mourant provides the opportunity for career development within an international law firm (in addition to our strong presence in the Channel Islands, we have offices in London, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Asia and the Caribbean), gaining exposure to high quality work, and dedicated mentorship in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Successful trainees will receive a competitive reward package, which covers SQE preparation course costs, exam fees, and paid study leave.

Upon qualification and admission as a solicitor, trainees will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent Associate level role at the firm.

“Our SQE Trainee Programme offers a supportive and accessible route into the legal profession. At Mourant, we are committed to creating a barrier-free recruitment process and offer flexible working opportunities, helping to ensure that talented individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and succeed.”

We have a long history in Guernsey of supporting trainees to qualify as solicitors of England and Wales and thereafter to continue their legal careers with the firm.

We also offer a similar Trainee Solicitor Programme in Jersey.

Applications for the Guernsey SQE Trainee Programme close on 27 November 2026 and should be submitted via our website.
