Mourant Fiji Army to "aim for cup" at GFI HKFC 10s debut

An experienced Mourant Fiji Army squad will make their eagerly awaited tournament debut at the 34th edition of the GFI HKFC 10s this week, which will be held at Hong Kong Football Club from April 3-4.

Isake Katonibau, part of Fiji’s winning teams at the last four Hong Kong Sevens, will captain fourth seeds Mourant Fiji Army, who are coached by Jope Tuikabe and will kick off in Pool D against Samurai International (fifth seeds), Hunter and Boo East Africans (12th) and USA’s Tiger Rugby (13th).

Fiji Army’s standout forwards include Sireli Ledua, Jolame Bera, Lemeki Damu and Jiuta Takubu, who are among the top players in Fiji’s domestic competition and have represented the country in either 15s or sevens.

Since 1986, the Hong Kong 10’s has been organised by the Hong Kong Football Club, who held it to commemorate the club’s centenary. Subsequently it has grown to become the world’s best rugby 10’s tournament, playing host to some of the globes top players and teams.

Mourant has a track record of successful partnerships with HKFC 10s tournament teams, sponsoring the Samurai squad in 2016 and 2017.
