Mourant wins ‘Overall Deal of the Year' at Airfinance Journal Awards

Leading global offshore law firm, Mourant, has won the ‘Overall Deal of the Year' award at the 2018 Airfinance Journal Awards for its work on a US$2.21 billion deal involving two of the world's biggest players in the aircraft leasing industry.

Partners Danielle Roman and Chinyin Johnston led the Mourant team advising ORIX Aviation on the Cayman legal aspects of its acquisition of a 30% stake of Avolon Holdings Ltd., the world’s third largest aircraft lessor by fleet size.

The Airfinance Journal Awards are the oldest and most prestigious aviation finance awards. In the ‘Overall Deal of the Year' category, the judges considered various factors including innovation, overcoming obstacles and complexity. They also asked if the transaction created a new market benchmark.
