Tax Planning Challenges for Trustees
05 November 2020
As the line between avoidance and evasion continues to blur, Mourant welcomed clients to join us for a breakfast seminar with a focus on tax planning challenges for trustees.
With governments now working out how to replenish their coffers, the challenges faced by trustees in implementing and managing tax planning have never been greater.
Mourant Partners, Christopher Edwards and Abel Lyall examined best practice in considering and implementing tax planning arrangements, practical guidance on steps which can be taken to ensure any planning is as robust as possible, and how best to remain informed of any future challenges.
The Trust Litigation specialists also considered how to deal with problems when they arise, including how to best engage with queries from Revenue authorities, as well as how to manage what can be divergent interests of beneficiaries, all with a view to achieving a consensual and practical outcome.
The informative presentation closed with an overview of what assistance the Royal Court can provide.
The seminar provided more than 100 attendees with a toolkit and framework to deal with any tax planning issues they may face in a highly practical manner.
