Two at Mourant win STEP Excellence Award

Two professionals at Mourant have been recognised in a global award programme run by the leading professional body for trust and private client professionals, STEP.

Senior Associate, Sophie Denman and General Counsel for Mourant Governance Services, Jamie Wisbey, and have both won STEP Excellence Awards, recognising them as top scoring students at distinction level globally in the STEP exams.

Both Sophie and Jamie completed the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management last year and were awarded a distinction along with a prestigious full membership of STEP.

Sophie has been recognised in the Excellence Awards for her Diploma mark while Jamie achieved his for his performance in the STEP Advanced Certificate in Company Law and Practice. Sophie also achieved the highest score globally for her Company Law and Practice exam in 2018. Jamie completed his Diploma (typically taking two years) in just six months, while achieving a distinction in each exam.

Sophie is a lawyer in the firm's International Trust and Private Client (ITPC) practice where advises trustees, beneficiaries and settlors in relation to a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious trust, foundation and private client matters. Sophie specialises in Guernsey, Cayman and BVI law and is based is the firm's London office.

Jamie works in the award-winning Mourant Governance Services team, providing a range of fiduciary, administration and governance services. His main areas of interest include corporate governance, innovation, commercial contracts, data protection, outsourcing and terms of business. He is also a director for in-house and client companies.
